Revolution 150

Revolution 150

Organised by PHG, riders from across the north shall be grouping together for a two-day event in May. This isn’t your standard two-day fundraising event, it’s an endurance test for all who have put themselves forward!

Starting in Harrogate, participants will set off in a group to travel approximately 75 miles by bicycle to reach Darlington, where they will stay overnight. The second day will be a true test of sore legs as it pushes the riders to return to Harrogate along a different route. That’s a total of 150 miles cycled in two days!  This gruelling test of willpower (and leg power!) isn’t just for fun – it’s to raise valuable funds for two carefully selected charities: Surfers against Sewage and The Woodland Trust.

Our environment is currently reaching crisis point, with sea levels rising at their fastest rate in 3,000 years and the highest level of carbion dioxide ever in our atmosphere. The Woodland Trust plant more trees, fight to preserve already-established woodland and are constantly conducting valuable research. Similarly, there’s around 269,000 tonnes of microplastic within our oceans, which Surfers Against Sewage are working tirelessly to reduce and prevent further damage to the marine eco-systems.

We have four brave members of staff from Crossling Ltd who are willing to put themselves through training, the exertion of event day, along with fundraising £500 each. From Newcastle we have Noel Blockley and Nigel Welsh, Robert Creighton from Darlington and Stephen Baden from our Carlise branch all braving the effort.

Crossling Ltd. Have pledged a sponsorship match – the company will match the funds raised by each of our participants up to £500, potentially upping the company-wide pledge to £4,000. The event is fully funded by PHG, meaning that 100% of donations will go directly to the charities above.

All sponsorship is greatly appreciated for our team members pushing themselves through this, and you can donate online to the participants on their links below:

Update: 20/03/2020.

Unfortuantely, the event has since been postponed by PHG whilst we wait for a safer time to continue with the challenge. Any previous sponsorships pledged will go towards the total sum raised by the riders, as we have a preliminary event planned for September 2020. Of course, it is difficult to make plans in the current environment; we will be sure to update you once we have confirmation of dates! Thank you.
