A solder ring is used as a connector to join copper pipes together in plumbing. To do so a heat source, such as a fire torch, and also some flux is used to meld the copper pipes and the solder ring together to create one unit with the desired bend made by the solder ring in the middle. Solder rings are sometimes referred to as Yorkshire fittings.
