A flange can be used in a wide range of applications in order to fit plumbing fixtures together. Examples include connecting pipes, valves and pumps. They are installed by bolting two of them together with a gasket between them to create a seal which connects the plumbing fixture, such as piping, together. The benefit of using flanges is that they allow easy access for cleaning, inspections or any modifications. Flanges come in a range of forms such as neck, slip on, socket weld, threaded or blind flanges.
