Crossling’s Guide to Showers

In an era of personalisation and variety, selecting the right shower for you can be a trickier task than you may initially expect. There's a multitude of factors to consider: affordability, practicality, intended experience, enviro-friendly, compatibility with your bathroom and utilities, and of course, design and aesthetic.

There's enough to think about here it could make your head spin! So, where to begin? Here is Crossling’s guide to showers. We are here to help you walk through your purchasing journey and narrow down what type of shower is right for you.

To make things a little easier, we’ll be looking at four main types of showers:

Digital Shower

A new player in the shower game; the digital shower is the choice for those who value having the latest tech in their homes to produce all the unique benefits they come with. So, what’s new here? Basically, unparalleled control and optimisation to the shower experience that suits you. Taking hot water flow from the boiler, by the touch of a LED display button you can fine tune the temperature and water pressure to exactly how you like it.

Furthermore, they are compatible with smart devices. Meaning you can pre-modify your shower using your smart phone, or voice activate with a smart home speaker without having to lurch into the shower, play around with the settings and potentially soak yourself.

Crossling stores plenty of digital showers by some of the biggest brands including Triton and Crosco!

Electric Shower

With the reputation of being the robust versatile choice, the main advantage to electric showers is their independence from hot water. Whatever the performance of your boiler, cold water is fed through and the electric shower does the hard work of producing hot water on demand. You no longer need to worry about using all of your hot water, as the electric shower only heats up the water you use! The electric shower may be the choice for those who are more environmentally conscious and would likely save money on their water bill.

However, the electric shower does have the issue of being reliant on your existing water pressure. An issue that would need to be redressed with a shower pump.

Mixer Shower

Similar to the digital shower, the mixer shower mixes hot and cold water, then regulates the temperature to your desire. This means both a hot and cold water supply is required, but avoids the risk of any drastic temperatures and scalding.

Mechanically built, mixer showers have that classic design and often possess a stronger flow than electric showers. Additionally, due to not being electrically powered, they can be concealed, may that be your preference.

Power Shower

As the name suggests, the power shower is the best bet if you value that high pressure, invigorating shower experience. Like mixer showers, the power shower requires both a hot and cold water supply. The water is internally mixed and produces a pump boosting flow rate to ensure a luxurious shower.

While they do require an electricity source, this only mixes the water and does not heat the water like the electric shower.
