Bathroom Trends for 2022

Bathroom Trends for 2022

Hooray… we are waving goodbye (and good riddance) to 2021 and saying hello to 2022. Giving rise to a fresh sense of motivation, optimism and goal setting, 2022 is going to be a huge year for everyone. For instance, events that will be marked in history are taking place this year, such as the queen celebrating her platinum jubilee. Also, more importantly, the new Batman film comes out this year, ABBA is going on tour and, most excitingly in our opinion, forecasted 2022 bathroom trends are looking tremendous!

In times gone by, bathrooms were sometimes put to the back of the list when it came to house related TLC. Kitchens and lounges were put first, leaving the poor bathroom struggling to keep up. We thought this was a crying shame, however, we love that bathrooms are starting to gain more attention and this attention has only increased during the pandemic. Perhaps this is due to more people working from home, justifying more home improvement investments. Or perhaps, the bathroom is finally getting the recognition it deserves as being a room with the potential to be an escape as well as somewhere to let your home-design hair down and to be your self-care HQ.

After all, we have all been in bathrooms that have made us wince. Yet when we enter a beautiful bathroom, the cleanliness and design makes our stressed bodies release a touch. So if 2022 is the year you have decided to get your bathroom shining in all its self-care glory… read on to get some inspiration from our 2022 bathroom trends.

Black is back and back for good…

Black Bathroom Fixtures

Black was all the rage in 2021. Black taps, black accessories, black baths and even black walls were taking the #bathroom by storm. The bathroom is becoming more instagramable and this trend has definitely been taking centre stage. This trend is striking, luxurious and elegant and it shows no signs of leaving in 2022. Whether you have a large or small space to work with, this trend can easily make even a modestly budgeted bathroom look a million dollars. Black taps against white china is absolutely stunning and such a quick yet impactful way to make your bathroom pop. What we also love about this trend is its ability to transform with different bathroom essentials. When heading into a different season, change up your towel's and bathmat's colour scheme and your black accents will still complement them, yet in a whole new way.

Spa or Hotels Vibes…

As mentioned, more people are working from home in addition to more people having an appreciation for the importance of self-care. Therefore, making the bathroom a place to retreat and unwind is becoming increasingly popular with luxurious, sophisticated features such as minimally framed shower enclosures and under mount basins set to lead the way with this trend.

Plants galore…

Biophillic design, put simply, is a concept that aims to increase connectivity with nature. Draping your bathroom in plants will not only purify the air but also look naturally beautiful. Tying in perfectly with the spa vibes trend, biophillic design has a calming effect, allowing the space to melt your stresses away. Bamboo and fern plants are just a couple of the options available to you to dress your bathroom in nature.

The tub…

The stand-alone tub. This trend is truly endless and is edged into most of our minds as a cornerstone for unapologetic luxury and romance. Having a big bathroom may at first sound wonderful, until it comes to redecorating. Then suddenly you find a void in the middle of your space. What better way to solve this (albeit not so bad problem) with a statement stand-alone tub. From modern to traditional, design styles to choose from are endless. This allows you to completely match your tub to the bathroom or vice versa! However, never fear, baths that are fitted to the wall are still such a luxurious addition to smaller bathrooms.

Mixing the old with the new…

It’s an age old saying; opposites attract. This is certainly the case for bathrooms and, therefore, this trend is picking up momentum. Creating a mix in traditional and modern features creates a design with depth and interest with a resulting impact of luxury. A period tap paired with a modern sink or tub can look simply stunning.
